GREETINGS: I am Steve Heine. I am retiring as POETRY DIRECTOR for the Oregon State Fair and Marion County Fairs after completing more than 25 Fairs. I hope you will post these opportunities.

The Marion County Fair seeks a POETRY COORDINATOR for the 2002 Fair. Interested applicants should contact the Fair Office ASAP at:503 585-9998 or send a letter of interest to: P.O. Box 7166, Salem, OR 97303. The poetry coordinator is responsible for reviewing rules, displaying exhibits and enlisting judges.

The Oregon State Fair seeks a POETRY COORDINATOR for the 2002 Fair. Interested applicants should contact the Fair Office at 503 947-3247 or write to: Janita James, Home Economics Director, Oregon State Fair 2330 17th ST NE, SALEM, OR 97303

I'm tired after more than 25 Fairs. There are many poets in the community. Perhaps some of them will step up and take over one or both of these projects.

Note: Poetry was a new department for the Oregon State Fair in 1988 when I asked the Fair to consider it. It has been so successful in 14 years that now I advise Fairs Worldwide on how to set up POETRY CONTESTS. I recently wrote an article in Israel on poetry contests. Thus, poetry contests in Israel are modeled after the Oregon State Fair.

 Best Wishes,Steve Heine.
