Great American Speeches Hosted by Jody Powell (of the disastrous Jimmy Carter administration), this five-part series is like reading the training manual for Young Socialists. This evening’s collection began with Barbara Boxer, moved to Ronald Reagan and thence to Mario Cuomo and Jesse Jackson.. This is a typical imbalance. All presentations by PBS, like the panel on ABC’s so-called Politically Incorrect, are weighted in favor of liberalism. These people, who speak of Rush Limbaugh’s lack of “balance,” have never presented a balanced show in their entire history. During their series on American Presidents, they presented Reagan as an intellectually vapid, uninvolved, brain-damaged old man. All Democratic presidents were presented as gods. Watch the PBS Friday news analysis show, Washington Week in Review, and see if you can find a single non-liberal on the panel. (Public radio is, if possible, even more biased. It is outright leftist propaganda.) The liberal idiots on this edition of Great American Speeches, Boxer, Cuomo and Jackson, flanked Reagan and were portrayed in the setup as people speaking from deep belief. Reagan’s speeches were preceded with a half a mile of narrative preparation for the viewer which set up his words to follow as being the result of an actor’s ability to manipulate an audience through technique. Jackson’s speeches were introduced as “poetic” and “lyrical.” His life was portrayed as one for the common man - his efforts dedicated to enriching all Americans. We, of course, now know that Jackson is a demagogue, a false minister, a cheater and a blackmailer – a living epitome of self-serving arrogance and deception. (Boxer, by the way, owns stock in the Texas oil companies she has been of late blasting for supposed insider manipulation of energy prices. She is as phony and fraudulent as Jackson.) Thus, the greatest political figure of our time, Ronald Reagan, was presented as a phony while the true phonies were presented as political and spiritual noblility. This program, with my explanation above, should be presented in every
school in America as part of a class whose purpose is to expose the outright
bias and pure leftist propaganda to which the nation is exposed on a daily
basis. Forewarned is forearmed, and it would be best for our children
if they were properly informed about the mass incompetence and misfeasance
of the mainstream American press. (LL)
