Measure 28 Tax Increase Goes Down!

Congratulations are in order to Oregon's tiny but emerging conservative media community.  Thanks to the likes of Gregg Clapper, Jayne Carroll, Larry George, Lars Larson and all the others.  Thanks to Jim Pasero and Briget Barton of Brainstorm Magazine.  Thanks also to Oregon's Libertarian community, websites like Watchdog dot com and all the individual volunteers who worked for the No on 28 effort.

Well, folks, Oregon's liberals are getting even with you. Multnomah County is releasing prisoners, "educators" are cutting back teaching days -- but not in-service days or frivolous classroom time devoted to multiculturalist crap, of course. The Liberal arts will not suffer, though basic public services will.

Our question is this: Are you going to learn your place from all this, and vote politically correctly in the next election?  Or have you been reminded of the power of your one, single vote?

When you hear the stories of cutbacks to basic services like police and fire departments as a result of this liberal retribution ask your public officials why public art, bike paths, outrageous public employee retirement benefits, dozens of teacher in-service days, gigantic urban renewal projects, fleets of public automobiles, extravagant "business" trips to convention resorts and  billions spent on light rail boondoggles and welfare for illegal aliens and  people who refuse to work are more important.

Ask them why a budget that is larger by millions of dollars than the previous one requires drastic cutbacks in only those services which are the most critically important while people who are retiring from the state park service are sent to expensive new technology training seminars.  (As reported on the Lars Larson program on January 29, 2003 at 2:09 P.M.)

The first shot has been fired.  They are firing back.  If you won't pay in one way, they're going to make you pay in another.  Will you be cowed or will you point out to them that it is your money they are spending, and they will spend it as you demand or lose their jobs?
